Interstice

Interstice was part of Focus Groups: a month long curatorial project by where each weekend groups of guests were invited to experience different parameters. Interstice was one such theme.

Interstice was a set of parameters with which to explore the dynamics between the group and the individual.

Groups of 5 to 10 people were admitted to the room at a time. Before entering, they were asked to remove their shoes.

Crowded into a small area, they avoid the black area in front of them due to the preference for dry socks.

The perimeter of the black painted floor area was outlined by water-proof eith-of-an-inch thick string that keeps the thin layer of water from spilling out onto the dry areas. The other side of the room is painted flat white. The lights were pointed at the partici[ants, dialating their pupils, thus making the white area seem like a big wall (no flor after black area)...until someone crosses
